Creating a remarkable business for generations to come.
Our approach
Sustainability at Brahman Hills is not simply about reducing our impact. It is about creating a destination that can continue to shift lives for generations to come.
In the heart of the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands, nature is not simply our backdrop. It is part of who we are. From the way we generate and manage energy and water to the way we grow food, care for our gardens and support our communities, we continually look for ways to work more thoughtfully with the world around us.
People, Planet & Purpose
Our approach considers the long-term impact of every decision — from protecting natural resources and encouraging biodiversity to creating meaningful opportunities for our people and surrounding communities.
Working with Nature
Our gardens, grasslands and surrounding nature reserve form an important part of the Brahman Hills experience. We care for these spaces with practices designed to encourage biodiversity and protect the natural ecosystems that make the Midlands so special.
Through responsible planting, indigenous species, pollinator-friendly environments and our ongoing Green Lung initiative, we are investing in a healthier, more resilient future.
Energy & Water
We continue to invest in renewable energy and responsible resource management to reduce our reliance on conventional energy and minimise our environmental footprint.
Solar power, responsible water use and the treatment and reuse of wastewater all form part of our commitment to operating more thoughtfully.
From Food Waste to Future Growth
What leaves our kitchens doesn't necessarily leave Brahman Hills.
Through Bokashi composting, organic food waste is returned to the soil, helping nourish the gardens that in turn provide seasonal produce for our kitchens.
It is a simple cycle. Grow. Harvest. Prepare. Return. Grow again.
Growing Our Own
Our gardens provide more than beauty. Seasonal fruit, vegetables and herbs are grown close to our kitchens, allowing our culinary teams to work with fresh, locally grown produce while reducing unnecessary transportation.
It is our way of keeping the journey from soil to plate as close to home as possible.
A Legacy Worth Leaving
Our vision is to build a remarkable business for our children's children — one that will still be shifting lives 100 years from now.
Sustainability is therefore not a destination. It is an ongoing commitment to the land, our people, our community and the generations who will experience Brahman Hills long after us.
